In UK hotels its usually more expensive to have multiple syndicate meeting rooms unless bedrooms can be converted to board rooms.
Useful Information on UK Conference Venues and Centres
UK Hotels
UK Hotels are the only choice if you wish to have a residential conference with delegates sleeping (and often parking) on-site. Hotels are major investments and put a lot of though into their locations to ensure excellent travel links (motorways, train stations etc). This means they are normally very easy to locate and travel to and from. Hotels normally include VAT in their quotation.
UK Conference Centres
UK conference centres tend to be smaller and more 'out of the way'. The vast majority have on-site parking (outside of London). They are set out in businesslike way, usually without many frills in bedrooms etc. The food is usually a self-service hot and cold buffet with vegetarian options and seating provided in the room.
The meeting space is often fully equipped with data projectors and good screens and there is usually a technician on-site to make sure everything works during your event. If the conference demands 4-15 syndicate / breakout rooms it is normally easier to meet this requirement in a conference centre.
Centres charge on a plus VAT basis so an example cost would be £50 + VAT Day Delegate Rate or £165 + VAT 24 hour rate (read useful conference terms and phrases).
UK Stadiums
All over Britain (aided by Sky sponsorship) sporting clubs are building impressive conference facilities on the side of pitches and other sports grounds. They can usually manage large numbers of day conferences and charge a competitive (+ VAT) day delegate rate. Using executive boxes they can often provide 30-40 'board rooms'.
UK Country House Hotels
UK country house hotels are always popular with 20-40 delegate conferences. Facilities such as free parking on-site, very good food, lots of natural breakout areas, a swimming pool or a mini gym make them very highly rated by delegates. They will charge VAT included prices and will quote as a day delegate rate and 24 hour rate. Use of their grounds is usually charged if you wish to use them for activities.
UK Unusual Venues
If you require something a bit more unusual for your conference, there is now a wide choice of more out-of-the-ordinary venues such as castles, coats, museums and pleasure parks, each offering offer great day conference opportunities. They are normally + VAT and can handle large numbers.
