Technology, Communications and Conferencing

The whole point of a meeting is to communicate, to share ideas and to bring people together. Technology makes this easier and more interesting.

Many venues have WIFI (wireless internet) so delegates can communicate with each other, and also keep in touch with business outside of the conference.

A good phone is essential for the business traveller - Most phones are equipped with internet such as Blackberries and Iphones

VoIP is handing for communicating whilst on the road. This simply means voice over the internet. A good provider to use is Skype - allowing you to call in the UK and abroad.

Social networking sites such as facebook have dominated the internet over the past year. They are not only useful for keeping in touch with friends but also for business. for example Microsoft recently used facebook to bring together delegates for an event! This is where delegates registered but was also used to motivate the delegates and make them communicate before the event took place!

Blogs are also great for reciving feedback on an event - delegates can chat and post their experiences which is great for organisers - they can measure the success of the event. A great Business network site is BT trade space - It is like a ‘My space’. you can uplaod pictures, put your contact details and really connect with potential clients and other businesses.

Conference and events are only going to get more technological! It is a great way of inspiring delegates and keeping them interested - Its time to move on from ‘Death by Powerpoint’ and use other aids to get those delegates going.

Where Venue Finder differs from the usual online venues directories is in the fact that the end user need not have any knowledge about UK venues.

The customer simply tells the conference agent their needs, the agent imputs this information in to Venue Finder and within minutes the conference agent has a full list of suitable venues available on the customers required dates.

The conference agent has the contact details of who to speak to at each venue, knows how low each venues can go with delegate rates, knows what facilities each venue provides and can provisionally hold all suitable venues for the customer to select from.

Venue Finder is a Free Venue Finding System which saves you time and money.

Religious Conferences - a booming market?

A noticeable trend in the meetings and conference industry is the increasing number of Religious events in the UK.

Religious conferences send to have large numbers of people attending, often 300+, often with bedrooms. As they do tend to have very low budgets, organisers of these events often find it hard to locate a venue that will come into their price brackets. At Morris Conferencing, we have good contacts with University’s in the UK, which often are ideal as they have large lecture theatre’s, plenty of syndicate rooms and lots of accommodation, however some venues are not available all year round.

There are many large hotels and conference centres are able to take on these larger religious conferences. Delegates can opt for a twin room to bring the costs down. Weekends and the months of July, August and early September are probably the best times to hold a conference as it is off-peak in terms of conferences for venues. These events are also family orientated, so the summer months are often ideal as children will not have to take time off school.

Morris Conferencing deal with many large religious events for different religions, delegate numbers and various locations in the UK and Ireland. As finances often force religious groups into a ‘no frills’ approach, Morris will take this into account and work with you to meet all of your needs. We have contacts with many University’s, hotels and conference centres that can accommodate large numbers. We negotiate to get the best price for you, by looking at all aspects of the conference.
