Venue description:
Exeter, with it's stunning 12th century Cathedral is a fascinating city in
which to base yourselves to explore the South Devon Coast, Dartmoor and the many
local attractions, or for taking a day trip to The Eden Project near St.
Austell. The Southgate, close to the Cathedral succeeds in blending the old and the
new in a modern building designed in the Georgian Style and built onto the
remaining walls of a listed building. After a long day exploring , where better to relax than in the hotel pool,
gym or sauna.
Venue location:
Road FROM THE M5: Leave M5 at junction 30 and stay in the right hand lane. Take the third exit
on the roundabout, signposted A379 to Exeter and Dawlish. Keep on this road and
take the left turn signposted the City Centre. At the Countess Wear roundabout,
take the third exit to the City Centre. You should now be on Topsham Road. Follow this road straight through the City Centre for about 2 miles. The
Southgate Hotel should be seen on the right hand side in front of you at the
Acorn Junction. Get in the far right hand lane and branch right. Take the
immediate first left hand turn into Southernhay and the first left again into
the hotel car park. Rail Exeter St Davids is approximately two miles and Exeter Central is
approximately half a mile Air Exeter Airport is approximately six miles
Conference facilities:
Easy access by road and rail and ample free parking make The Southgate the
ideal venue for your next event whether it be a small Board Meeting or a
reception for 150 people. The seven air-conditioned conference rooms all boast natural daylight to help
towards a successful conference but are equally suitable for an important dinner
or family celebration. When the work for the day is complete guests can unwind in the gym, pool or
sauna or simply relax and enjoy good food in the relaxed atmosphere of Cloisters
Restaurant. All meeting rooms come fully equipped. Essential services such as
audio/visual equipment, PA and secretarial assistance, fax, photocopier,
couriers and email can also be arranged. The Seymour Suite Located on the ground floor this self contained suite features natural light,
air-conditioning and can hold up to 150 people theatre style. The suite can be
divided into Seymour 1 & 2, each with a separate entrance and exit onto the
patio. The Leofric Room Also located on the ground floor and fully air conditioned, The Leofric room
features a state of the art sound system, plasma screen, DVD and Video as well
as an induction loop for people with hearing difficulties. The Room can cater
for up to 18 delegates on a polished rosewood table and is also ideal for that
special deiiner. The Northgate, Eastgate and Southgate 1 & 2 Rooms These smaller rooms have a ground floor location with natural daylight, built
in screens and air conditioning. They can accommodate 10 people Boardroom style
or 15 people Theatre style or for a smaller reception. Southgate 1 & 2 have the added flexibility of opening up to form one
bigger room for meetings up to 25 people.
