Browns Hotel

Set in the heart of Mayfair, Brown's is one of the most classic and elegant hotels in London, and certainly the most historic. Founded in 1837, to provide 'genteel' accommodation for discerning people, Brown's still retains that air of exclusivity and refinement.

Composed of eleven Georgian town houses, all 118 bedrooms (including suites and family rooms) have been individually designed with an elegance which has become the trademark of a Rocco Forte hotel.

Guests entering the hotel are met with warmth and personal service, luxury and charm. Open fires and graceful antique furnishings sit comfortably alongside all the amenities you would expect from a 5-star establishment. Afternoon tea at Brown's is famous the world over.

Olga Polizzi and her team are currently working on plans for a major refurbishment of the hotel during 2004, including the addition of extra bedrooms, with minimum disruption to our guests. We intend to make Brown's one of the top luxury hotels in London by the end of 2004.

London Heathrow is the city's main airport, and about 45 minutes drive from the hotel, depending on the traffic. London is also served by London Gatwick and London City Airport. Please let us know if you would like us to meet your flight.

By Train

The city is well served by the national rail system, and we would be happy to arrange transfer to and from any of the mainline stations.

By Car

Brown's is located on Albemarle Street, which is on the north side of Piccadilly. We would be happy to park your car for you during your stay, at a charge of #40 for 24 hours. However, cars entering central London are subject to a congestion charge of #5 per 24 hours, and we do not recommend you arrive at the hotel by car.

In keeping with the heritage of this historic hotel, all of our private rooms are named after distinguished guests or events which took place here. These include The Kipling Room, The Niagara Room (after a landmark meeting which adopted the use of hydro-electric power), The Graham Bell Room, to commemorate the first ever telephone call from Britain which was made from Brown's Hotel in 1876, and The Roosevelt Room where President Theodore Roosevelt held his wedding reception in 1886.

All rooms have air-conditioning, natural daylight and modem lines, and some rooms interconnect to increase the flexibility of your meeting. We can set up the latest audio-visual technology, including video conferencing, and lay out the rooms in which ever way suits your meeting.

Designed in a classic English style with fireplaces, chandeliers and ornate furniture, Brown's banqueting rooms provide a relaxing atmosphere for private dining. Delegates also have the choice of fine dining in Restaurant 1837 and The Library for lunches and dinners.

Providing the best possible service to you is important to us. At Rocco Forte Hotels we have invested a great deal of time in identifying 1,500 key points of service delivery which we believe will make us the best. We have devoted significant effort to implementing these via training programmes and in monitoring our performance with independent assessors who specialise in luxury hotels. This philosophy is applied throughout the hotel.

Brown's is also licensed for civil wedding ceremonies for up to 70 guests, and can accommodate dinner-dances for up to 48 people. Our wedding co-ordinator can help you with arrangements, and our suites make for a luxurious start to your honeymoon.
