Invercauld Arms

Region:
Aberdeenshire

City:
Braemar

Description:
The Invercauld Arms, has been a haven for sportsmen for centuries. We can arrange fishing for Salmon, Trout, Pike and Perch, a days stalking on the hill for Red Deer, or perhaps a few hours practice at Clay Pigeons. For the keen shot there are Grouse, Pheasant, Black Cock White Hare and even the elusive Ptarmigan, all depending on the season of course, but always with the impressive backdrop of forest and mountain that makes a day out in the clear highland air so exhilarating There's an 18-hole golf course in Braemar, and nearby, hill-walking, pony trekking and even a hang-gliding school. For the historian, there are over 150 castles in this area, recalling Scotland's turbulent intriguing past. Visit the 17th century Braemar Castle on a brae overlooking the Dee, with it's fine round tower and barrel-vaulted ceiling. There's Balmoral, the Queen's Scottish baronial residence, or further afield, romantic Crathes Castle, with its oak-panelled ceiling and outstanding formal gardens. Skiing is now a major sport in Scotland and Glenshee, a 15 minute drive from the hotel, boasts chairlifts and ski-tows which rival the amenities at the traditional Continental resorts. There are superb facilities for skiers of all ages, a drag-lift on the nursery slopes for beginners and a chairlift up the 3000 foot Cairnwell Mountain which serves the testing, steep 'Tiger' run. Good skiers can complete up to 30,000 feet of downhill running a day. Modern, well maintained equipment can be hired in the village and tuition can be organised from the hotel. ALSO AVAILABLE: - Guided Walks - Photographic Walks - Village Highland Heritage Centre - Mountain Bike Hire - Corporate Adventure Programmes
