The Gateway Education and Arts Centre is beautifully situated on the River Severn only 5 minutes walk from Shrewsbury's town centre, It is a stone's throw from the railway station. The purpose-built centre, a gift from a local trust, is 9 years old and was officially opened by Her Royal Highness the Princess Anne in October 1984. Its attractive suite of rooms, finished in brick and English oak, vary in size from a committee room holding 10 to a Conference room seating 130. The first floor has several general purpose rooms, some overlooking the river, holding up to 45 people. The accommodation is suitable for training courses, seminars, interviews, conferences, demonstrations and promotions. The Centre has full access for disabled people, including ramps and a lift. A full range of Audio-visual equipment is available for use at the centre. Rooms and equipment are set out as required. In addition, The Gateway has a most attractive Coffee shop, with a terrace overlooking the river. Besides coffee, tea and light meals, the Coffee shop will provide buffets to order. These can be served in separate rooms if required. Room charges are very competitive, and a copy of the current charges is enclosed. As the availability of rooms is limited during the peak season, room bookings should be made as early as possible. Recreational activities can be arranged for conference members on request, including walks and talks on local history, and a wide range of leisure classes, such as Arts, Crafts and Keep Fit.
